Immune Mediated Ocular Diseases in the Horse

Immune-mediated ocular disease can be devastating to vision in the horse. This group of diseases have very specific presentations in the horse, and if discovered earlier in the disease process can lead to better long term prognosis. This lecture will cover immune-mediated corneal diseases, and their medical and surgical treatment. We will also discuss Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU) and updates in the pathophysiology of the disease in various breeds as well as management of ERU.

Kathryn Wotman DVM, DACVIM, DACVO

Dr .Wotman completed a Large Animal internal medicine residency followed by a residency in veterinary ophthalmology at University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wotman stayed as clinical faculty in large animal ophthalmology at Penn’s New Bolton Center in conjunction with working at the Veterinary Specialty Clinic of Delaware as a small animal ophthalmologist for 6 years. She then joined the Ophthalmology team at Colorado State University where Dr. Wotman is currently an Assistant Professor.
