Equine Ophthalmology: The Basics and More

The ophthalmic exam is a crucial part of any physical exam in the equine patient.  It may offer insight not only to ocular disease, but also manifestations of systemic diseases.  This lecture will cover equine ocular anatomy and vision as well as the tools needed to do a proper exam.  We will also explore common diseases often encountered in the field and discuss treatment options.

Kathryn Wotman DVM, DACVIM, DACVO

Dr .Wotman completed a Large Animal internal medicine residency followed by a residency in veterinary ophthalmology at University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wotman stayed as clinical faculty in large animal ophthalmology at Penn’s New Bolton Center in conjunction with working at the Veterinary Specialty Clinic of Delaware as a small animal ophthalmologist for 6 years. She then joined the Ophthalmology team at Colorado State University where Dr. Wotman is currently an Assistant Professor.
