Injuries to tendons can be career ending for equine athletes, and can result in loss of use. Tendon heals slowly, and re-injury is common. Current approaches for treating tendon injury include medical, surgical and regenerative medicine therapies. This lecture will review the most common types of injuries, with currently recommended treatment approaches. Injuries.

Jennifer Barrett DVM, PhD, DACVS, DACVSMR
Dr. Barrett received her PhD in Molecular Biology from Yale University and her DVM from Cornell University. She completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY, an equine surgery residency at the University of Illinois and a post-doctoral research fellowship in the Comparative Orthopedics Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is board certified by ACVS and ACVSMR.
